My Story – The Dogs Who Started It All

Tiny Tails Dog Training Chester was inspired by three extraordinary dogs who shaped my life and my journey into canine behaviour and wellbeing — Darcy, Sarge, and Froeby.

Darcy was my very first guide dog and my greatest teacher. A loyal and gentle black Labrador she guided me through some of the most important years of my life and showed me what true partnership, trust, and unconditional love really mean. Darcy lived to the wonderful age of 15½ years and passed away in June 2024, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence everything I do. She was the beginning of it all — the dog who opened my eyes to just how deeply dogs support us, emotionally as well as practically.

Sarge, a calm and affectionate yellow Labrador Retriever, and Froeby, a thoughtful and steady black Labrador Retriever, both spent their working lives helping others navigate the world with confidence and independence. When they retired, they brought those same qualities into everyday life — patience, resilience, and an incredible ability to connect.
Living alongside Darcy, Sarge, and Froeby gave me a deep appreciation for how dogs communicate, learn, and thrive when their emotional and physical needs are truly understood. They taught me that training isn’t about control or quick fixes — it’s about listening, building trust, and supporting each dog as an individual.

Watching these remarkable dogs transition through working life, retirement, and in Darcy’s case, a long and loved life well lived, inspired my passion for canine behaviour, holistic care, and education. I became determined to help other dogs and owners experience the same harmony, confidence, and understanding that these dogs gave to me.
Today, that inspiration lives at the heart of Tiny Tails Dog Training Chester. My approach is calm, kind, and holistic, focusing on positive reinforcement, emotional wellbeing, and building strong foundations that last a lifetime.
Darcy’s legacy lives on, and alongside Sarge and Froeby, their influence is present in every puppy I support, every owner I guide, and every tiny tail that learns big skills πŸ’š

Darcy lived an incredible life and passed away peacefully in June 2024 at the wonderful age of 15½ years. She taught me more than any book or course ever could — about partnership, resilience, unconditional love, and how deeply dogs understand us.
Her legacy lives on in my holistic, positive approach to training and wellbeing, and she continues to guide me in everything I do, even now.

These three dogs are the soul of Tiny Tails Dog Training Chester 🐢
Their lessons live on in every puppy I support, every owner I guide, and every tiny tail that learns big skills ✨

Qualifications

I am highly qualified in canine behaviour, training, wellbeing and animal care, with formal education spanning nutrition, behaviour, therapy, welfare and holistic care.

Learn to Communicate with Animals & Nature Certification

As part of my continued professional development, I have completed a certified course in Learning to Communicate with Animals & Nature.

This training focuses on developing deeper awareness, intuitive listening skills, and energetic sensitivity to better understand animals beyond behaviour alone. Communication is not limited to vocal cues or body language — it also includes emotional signals, subtle shifts in energy, and the connection animals have with their environment.

Through this certification, I have strengthened my ability to:

Tune into an animal’s emotional state

Recognise underlying stress, confusion or imbalance

Support nervous or sensitive dogs with greater empathy

Understand the relationship between animals and their surroundings

Approach behavioural concerns with a more holistic perspective

This qualification complements my background in animal physiotherapy, pet psychology and Reiki, allowing me to support dogs in a well-rounded, compassionate way.

My aim is always to build trust, reduce stress and strengthen the bond between you and your dog. By combining practical training techniques with deeper observation and understanding, I can offer support that considers both the physical and emotional wellbeing of your pet.

Veterinary Support Assistant Diploma

New Skills Academy

I’m delighted to share that I have successfully completed my Veterinary Support Assistant Diploma through New Skills Academy.

This qualification has further strengthened my knowledge of canine health, welfare, and the veterinary care process. It allows me to better support both dogs and their owners by understanding what may be happening behind the scenes in a veterinary setting and how training, behaviour, and wellbeing all work together.

What this means for Tiny Tails clients

This diploma enhances the holistic approach I already bring to my training services by giving me a deeper understanding of:

Basic veterinary procedures and terminology

Recognising signs of illness, pain, or discomfort

Supporting dogs before and after veterinary visits

Stress-free handling and confidence building

Health and welfare considerations during training

Working alongside vets and other pet professionals

While I am not a veterinary professional, this qualification allows me to work more confidently alongside veterinary teams and to support owners in creating positive, calm experiences for their dogs when it comes to health checks, handling, and clinic visits.

Why this matters

At Tiny Tails Dog Training Chester, I believe training should always consider the whole dog — behaviour, health, environment, and emotional wellbeing. Continuing my education ensures I can offer the most informed, compassionate, and up-to-date support to every dog and family I work with.

This diploma sits alongside my many other canine-focused qualifications and reflects my ongoing commitment to professional development and the highest standards of care.

Animal Physiotherapy Certificate

I am proud to have achieved my Animal Physiotherapy Certificate, further strengthening the knowledge and care I provide through Tiny Tails Dog Training.

Understanding how a dog’s body moves, functions and recovers is essential when supporting behaviour, training and overall wellbeing. This qualification has given me deeper insight into:

Canine anatomy and muscular structure

Movement and gait assessment

Supporting mobility and flexibility

Recognising discomfort or physical tension

Safe exercise and recovery principles

By combining training expertise with physiotherapy knowledge, I can take a more holistic approach — ensuring your dog is not only learning well, but moving comfortably and confidently too.

Whether your dog is a lively puppy, an active adult, or needs a little extra support with stiffness or recovery, I am committed to working in a way that prioritises both emotional and physical wellbeing.

Continued professional development is incredibly important to me. Your dog deserves informed, compassionate, up-to-date care — and I will always strive to provide exactly that.

Animal Reiki – Supporting Your Dog’s Emotional & Physical Wellbeing

I am proud to have completed my Animal Reiki Certificate through Skills Network, expanding the holistic support I can offer at Tiny Tails Dog Training Chester.

Animal Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, emotional balance and overall wellbeing. Developed in Japan in 1922, Reiki works by encouraging the body’s natural ability to restore harmony and calm.

Many dogs experience stress in different ways — whether through anxiety, past trauma, behavioural challenges, recovery from injury, or changes in their environment. Animal Reiki offers a quiet, calming approach that allows your dog to relax at their own pace in a safe and supportive space.

How Animal Reiki Can Help:

Support anxious or nervous dogs

Encourage emotional regulation

Aid relaxation during recovery from illness or injury

Complement behavioural training plans

Promote overall calm and wellbeing

Reiki sessions are always conducted with your dog’s comfort as the priority. There is no force, restraint or pressure — your dog is free to move, settle or engage as they choose.

As part of my holistic approach, Animal Reiki can be offered alongside training sessions or as a standalone wellbeing session, depending on your dog’s needs.

Pet Psychology Diploma – The Skills Network

I am proud to have successfully completed and passed my Pet Psychology Diploma with The Skills Network, further strengthening my knowledge of canine behaviour, emotional development and learning theory.

This qualification has deepened my understanding of:

• How dogs think and process information

• The emotional drivers behind behaviour

• Stress signals and body language

• Behavioural development from puppyhood to adulthood

• The science behind positive, reward-based training

Understanding why a dog behaves in a certain way is just as important as teaching them what to do instead. This diploma allows me to approach every dog as an individual — looking beyond the behaviour you see and considering the emotional and psychological factors underneath.

By combining practical training experience with evidence-based psychology, I am able to provide thoughtful, compassionate and effective support tailored to both you and your dog.

I am committed to ongoing professional development so I can continue to offer the highest standard of care and guidance to the families who trust Tiny Tails Dog Training.

I have completed a Pet First Aid Course through Centre Of Excellence, giving me additional skills and knowledge to support your dog’s safety and wellbeing. This training helps ensure I am prepared to respond appropriately should an emergency arise during a session.
